Rainbow New Beginnings

Our group, Rainbow New Beginnings, is composed of around a dozen people from a variety of walks of life in Ottawa united by our strong conviction that something must be done to help persons of persecuted minority groups to find safety, security and a new beginning in Canada.

The focus of our concern is the LGBTQ community in countries where state-sponsored policies, religious beliefs and cultural attitudes make it impossible for LGBTQ people to lead lives free from harassment, incarceration, torture, killing and execution. Many people have already suffered from all of the above atrocities just because they are perceived as being “different” and we believe that any contribution to mitigating these practices and save even one person from such horrific indignities is a worthwhile endeavor which will enhance Canada’s worldwide reputation as a place of welcome and tolerance.

Rainbow New Beginnings is committed to raising funds sufficient to support an LGBTQ individual or couple to arrive safely, find housing and receive appropriate training, employment, health care and living expenses for their first year in Canada.

For individuals these costs amount to $20,000 or $25,000 for a couple. Our goal is to establish the opportunity of a new beginning for those who are in desperate need.
