This workshop is designed to help you learn the definitions of gender identity and gender expression, how those grounds differ from sexual orientation and come to understand the unique challenges faced by people who are trans and/or gender non-conforming and what you can do to create a more inclusive environment.
LGBT2Q+ Awareness: Gender Identity
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand how gender identity and gender expression differ from and relate to sexual orientation and sex assigned at birth
- Understand the grounds of gender identity and gender expression as they are reflected in Canadian legislation
- Explore the social context for challenges related to transphobic discrimination, harassment and bullying
