Description

Donor Conception Canada (DCC) exists to support all families using donor conception. We aim to help people make connections, normalize their experiences, and share/educate on how to help our donor-conceived children normalize their experience.

DCC is a support group for parents raising children conceived via donor conception, people conceived via donor conception, people considering starting a family with donor gametes, and gamete donors who have donated sperm or eggs to help others create families.

DCC was founded originally as the Southwestern Ontario Donor Conception Support Network in 1997 before transitioning to Donor Conception Canada in 2020, and serves the Southwestern Ontario region from Detroit and Windsor to Toronto and Buffalo. Attendees travel from communities in or near Cambridge, Chatham, Guelph, Kitchener, London, Owen Sound, Sarnia, Simcoe, Waterloo, and more.

Participation by sexual orientation/relationship-status averages about 33% single moms (of undisclosed sexual orientation), 50% heterosexual couples, and 10-15% LGBTQ parents (couples or single). By parental status, about 25-30% of participants are trying to become parents via donor-conception, and the remainder have or are expecting children conceived with at least one donor gamete and/or surrogacy.
